I’ve been thinking about perspective, about how it affects the way we see the world and how we move within it. About how much of what we see is shaped by what we’ve lived, been taught and come to believe. And how fervently we can be attached to our narrow, carefully constructed, often comfortable perspective, to being right, to defending the way we see things.
How questioning our view might require facing up to changes if we were to see things differently. It requires honesty and willingness to even consider someone else’s perspective which many people are so very resistant to.
There’s the ego to deal with. And the often uncomfortable and potentially painful inner work and self growth that goes along with it. Sometimes it’s just easier to do the self righteous narrative, polish our halo and dig our heels in and stick to the fixed perspective.
I think this is deeply limiting. I think seeing differently can enrich and expand our lives. I believe that when we relax our tenacious grip on our own narrow outlook we can create the space and potential for so much that is wonderful. We can have greater understanding, deeper connection and a more meaningful way of experiencing the everyday.

How is your perspective serving you?
How might your life expand if you were willing to see things through a different lens?
